About Us

Umkulu was established in 1996 by two student paddlers. Hennie & Steve. These were the days where no plans , but only the sense of adventure and the sense for enjoying the beauty of a river trail has driven the boys to explore the Orange River and many more rivers in Southern Africa.

Umkulu has grown over the years , but has never grown to have lost the sense of passion, professionalism and respect for nature and especially rivers of Southern Africa. We have spread our river knowledge and experience to specialized small group safari trails and often in combination with some river trails.

Our river crew strives to respect , admire and honor the routes of nature. We would like you to join us on a lifestyle of adventure and not just be a tourist on a river.Hennie is still leading river& safari trails in Southern Africa.All our guides are trained in house and then certified by the local Paddling association APA : African Paddling association..
